Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Yasmin Williams, an American guitarist and composer based in Alexandria, Virginia. We first recommended her music back in 2021. She grew up in northern Virginia and studied music theory and composition at NYU before returning to her home state.1 Her 2021 record, Urban Driftwood, demonstrated her dexterity and inventiveness, notably in using the guitar as a percussive instrument. Her new album, Acadia, which came out earlier this month, expands the showcase across instruments and styles, with eleven collaborators in total. Track two, a standout, features previous recomendee Kaki King.
