Today we’re listening to Willows8ng, a Canadian ambient artist based in Toronto. Pronounced willow-song, Willows8ng has put out guitar-led ambient music since 2014. With his music he aims to induce spiritual states, taking influence from Indian ragas1 and the 432hz movement.2 We’re first playing his 2022 LP, Mahaya, which exhibits a Reichian combination of motion and stasis, looping thought-provoking melodies and contributing the occasional chant. We’re also playing Bathe in Colour, an EP collaboration with fellow Torontonian artist Gollden, whose music and Q&A will appear next week.
