Good morning.
Today we’re listening to William Orbit, an English producer and keyboardist from Palmers Green outside London. We first recommended him back in 2020. Born in 1956, Orbit dropped out of high school and fell into music production via his flatmate.1 He went on to produce records for Madonna, Prince, U2, Britney Spears, and more. In the ‘90s he began releasing his own music, most notably Pieces in a Modern Style in 1995. That record takes classical pieces by composers such as Beethoven and Satie, rearranges them, and performs them on synthesizers, taking a page out of Wendy Carlos’s book. Orbit followed up with the second volume of Pieces in 2010. His music was also featured in the 1995 movie Heat.
