Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, film composers from Pennsylvania and London respectively. Reznor started Nine Inch Nails in Cleveland in 1988 and linked up with Ross in 2002 while working on a side project called Tapeworm.1 The pair ventured into film scoring together with David Fincher’s The Social Network in 2011, for which they won an Oscar. Their new score for the movie Challengers is almost entirely stripped-down techno, at times sounding like a Social Network remix album (in a good way). Many of the tracks end abruptly, as if to say that the buildup is the only thing that matters. There’s also a remixed version of the album by Boys Noize which is more distorted and is mixed as a continuous 30-minute set.

Have a splendid weekend.
Great stuff. A word also for their incredible work on the Watchmen TV show. Not very ambient etc. but the awesome track ‘The Brick’ is heading in that direction.
