Relaxer
Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Relaxer, an electronic music project from New York-based musician Daniel Martin-McCormick. Growing up in DC, he was inspired by Black Flag and Bad Brains and played in punk bands, and later on went solo to explore “disco, italo, weird house, techno,” and more.1 We’re first playing his 2019 solo debut LP, Coconut Grove, which uses the trappings of dance music to portend something. Second is his latest record, In Softening Air, which came out in April, and is much more glitchily ambient and occasionally narrated.
