Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to LTJ Bukem, an English DJ and producer from Watford. Bukem, whose name comes from the “book ‘em” catch phrase of Hawaii Five-O, fuses jazz influences like Herbie Hancock with drum ‘n’ bass and jungle.1 He founded the Good Looking Records label in the ‘90s, on which he put out the influential compilation Logical Progression in 2001. Citing that compilation, DJ Mag wrote last year that Bukem had “done more than anyone to take drum & bass out of the nightclubs and into our headphones.” We’re playing that disc as well as his 2000 debut LP, Journey Inwards, on which he shows his piano chops as well as sped-up drum break mixing abilities.

Have a great weekend.
It must have been 2002 when we were travelling to the south of France from the south of England. Catching the ferry to Calais we drove through the night and day, 1000 miles in a convoy of three cars. My friend Lawrence who I consider a brilliant DJ in his own right, at least he was at the time, introduced us to Bukem and in a flash, I was bowled over and every now and then I have a Bukem renaissance. Looks like road is going to be on of them!!! Yay!!!
You can't beat Logical Progressions - such a great mix.
