Today we’re listening to Liquid Mind, an ambient music project from Los Angeles-based composer Chuck Wild. In the ‘70s, Chuck entered the music industry as a producer and songwriter, going on to work with artists such as Frank Zappa and Michael Jackson.1 He was a workaholic and later developed anxiety and panic attacks. After suffering for years he found a treatment: slow-moving synth pads playing classical-inspired chords. He originally recorded these “Liquid Mind” pieces for the purpose of self-medication, but in 1993 he decided to release them, in case they would help others. We’re playing two of the many records he’s released in this series: IV: Unity (2000) and XIV: Simplicity (2022).
