Good morning.
Today we’re listening to KMRU, an electronic project from Kenyan producer Joseph Kamaru. We first recommended him in August 2020. Kamaru was born and raised in Nairobi. After gaining traction as a house/techno DJ, he ventured to the countryside out in Rongai, where he made field recordings and produced ambient music. One of the resulting LPs, Peel from 2020, remains a Flow State favorite. In 2022 he put out another ambient/electronic album, epoch, which builds scintillating synth structures. “I write my best music when I feel completely attuned to the music,” he told xlr8r, “so much so that I actually forget what I am doing.”

So glad to see KMRU here ! He's great.
I've visited Nairobi three times in the past year ----- incredible place. Wonderful people. And, KMRU's music is likewise amazing. I've bought everything he's done on Bandcamp - and wish he were more widely known, so thanks for profiling him (again) here!
