Today we have a guest recommendation from Chris Dalla Riva, a musician from New Jersey who works on analytics and personalization at Audiomack, a music streaming service.
Can't help hearing this as 'old movie' music - curiously enough, listening to the recent Flow State with the Gleason version of "I Only Have Eyes for You" made me realize that the song is much older than I had thought. I am enjoying listening but also distracted by 'extra-musical' qualities, such as the constraints of music recording or production that make it sound 'old fashioned'. Thanks for sharing the tunes.
This is the side of Jackie's career that doesn't get talked about too much nowadays. He was a genuine composer in my eyes (his most famous one being the theme of "The Honeymooners", "You're My Greatest Love"), using dictation because he couldn't read or write music formally.
Thanks for having me! Hope everybody can relax to some of Mr. Gleason's beautiful tunes.
That’s Jimmy Fallon
Lmao. He does look eerily similar in that photo
Thanks Chris,Flowstate,Jackie was an absolute pure genius! This was a treat on my b day!
Happy birthday!
Thank you kindly!
