Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Hideyuki Hashimoto, a Japanese pianist from Osaka. Now based in Kagawa, Hashimoto started off his piano career by improvising. “I started to improvise, not for anyone, but for myself, with a few notes on the piano, a kind of fragment of a song,” he told Music Dances When You Sleep. “Maybe it's like having a conversation with the piano, like a poem…. Inspiration comes from many things in my day to day life, nature, art, spirit, piano, and sometimes someone gives it to me.” We’re playing two of his delicate, felt piano records: breath from 2020 and piano room from 2022.
