Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Hayden Pedigo, an American guitarist and producer from Amarillo, Texas. He was raised there by his truck-stop preacher father, who homeschooled him. Pedigo plays 6- and 12-string guitar and put out his first John Fahey-inspired fingerstyle record as a teenager.1 His latest LP, The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored, is an instrumental collection whose title comes from the diary of National Lampoon co-creator Doug Kenney. It’s wistful acoustic guitar accompanied by synths, pedal steel, and piano. We’re also playing two prior LPs, which play a similar style: Letting Go from 2021 and Greetings from Amarillo from 2017.
