Ensemble Dedalus
Good morning. The Flow State summer T-shirt is on sale here.
Today we’re listening to Ensemble Dedalus, a French ensemble based in Toulouse. Founded in 1996 by guitarist and composer Didier Aschour, Ensemble Dedalus performs the works of contemporary electronic and minimalist composers. Their latest album, Radigue, performs works by Éliane Radigue, a French composer who we’ve recommended three times before. The first 30-minute track is “Occam - Hepta 1,” a drone string piece that seems to magically induce reflection and insight. We’re also playing their 2019 record that performs the works of American composer Catherine Lamb, which is equally droney and slightly more discordant.
