Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Ekin Fil, a Turkish ambient producer and singer-songwriter from outside Istanbul.1 Fil started putting out music in 2008, and has had a “years-long run of quietly phenomenal music,” as put it in January. Many of her albums feature her own ghostly vocals, exemplified by Feelings from 2021 and Ghosts Inside from 2017, both of which we’re playing today. But first we recommend Rosewood Untitled, her new ambient LP which was recorded in 2021 in the aftermath of Turkish wildfires.2 The haunting, delicate synth tones are both mournful and soothing.

Somewhere between the spa and the haunted house - her music (and vocals) waver in & out of attention.
