Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Donato Dozzy, an Italian electronic music producer. In the ‘80s he got into techno, cutting his teeth as a DJ in clubs in Bari.1 As his career took off, he simultaneously pursued a doctorate in politics at the University of Rome, earning himself the nickname “The Professor.”2 His latest LP, Magda, which came out last Friday, is full of subtle kick drums and “twinkling arpeggios” as put it. We’re also playing Filo Loves the Acid from 2018, a release on Tresor Records; as the title suggests, it turns up the resonance.
