Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Dobrawa Czocher, a Polish cellist and composer. She picked up the cello at age 7 and went on to study the instrument at Chopin University of Music in Warsaw as well as Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany.1 Czocher appeared on our radar with her 2021 collaboration with fellow composer and pianist Hania Rani. We featured the pair’s Inner Symphonies in November 2021 shortly after it came out on Deutsche Grammophon. Just over a week ago, Czocher released her debut LP, Dreamscapes, which collects original compositions made over two years, mournful-sounding pieces anchored in arpeggios.

We wish you a great start to your week.
I believe this will be my gateway drug into classical music. Thanks for this.
Warm cello blanket for winter days; at times stepping into "poignant movie soundtrack" moments, giving mundane tasks a weightiness and salience that they may not deserve (but admittedly making Monday a little more fun).
