It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to D.K., the electronic music moniker of Dang-Khoa Chau. Since 2014 he’s been putting out tracks that pair floating synth pads with intricate digital drums. His 2020 record, The Goddess is Dancing, fuses dance rhythms with traditional Vietnamese Hau Dong ritual dances, whose objects of worship were the goddesses of forest, heaven, and earth.1 We’re also playing his 2015 record, Island of Dreams, a spaced-out, bedroom record equal parts assertive and reflective.
