Today we’re listening to Chihei Hatakeyama, a Japanese ambient music composer based in Tokyo. We’ve featured him three times before, most recently in 2021. Since then the prolific Hatakeyama has released over half a dozen new LPs, of which we’re playing two. Magnificent Little Dudes, Volume 1 came out in May and pairs his atmospheric synth and guitar with improvisatory drums by Shun Ishikawa. Second we’re playing the new installment of Hatakeyama’s Void series – the 26th one – which came out in March and plays slow-moving, reverbed ambient music.
