It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Byron the Aquarius, a pianist and electronic music producer originally from Alabama. Byron, who is in fact a Pisces,1 picked up techno fundamentals in Detroit and jazz influences from his parents and while studying jazz composition in college.2 We’re first playing his 2020 record, Ambrosia, which was recorded with live musicians and released on Jeff Mills’ label, Axis Records. Then we’re playing Byron’s 2021 record, The New Beginning, which is more digital production and equally moody.
