Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Biosphere, an electronic/ambient project from Norwegian musician Geir Jenssen. We first recommended him in October 2021. The musical journey that led him to Biosphere began around 1980, he told Headphone Commute, when he discovered post-punk and electronic music. Among the artists that inspired him were Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, and Jon Hassell. Since the early ‘90s he’s been releasing electronic music with an arctic ambience. On his latest LP, Inland Delta, which came out in November, he plays with synth drones and melodies on stripped-down tracks. We’re also re-upping his 1997 record Substrata + Man with a Movie Camera, which layers field recordings and radio transmissions over synths.
