Good morning.
Today we’re listening to Bing & Ruth, an instrumental music project from NYC-based pianist David Moore. After studying music at The New School in the mid-aughts, Moore formed Bing & Ruth in a practice room as an experimental, fluid ensemble.1 He blended his sotto voce piano with “clarinets, voices, cellos, basses, piano, trumpet, and lap steel.”2 Fast forward to the pandemic when Moore was introduced to guitarist Steve Gunn by their publishing company. The two started remotely collaborated on tracks and found it to be a “real source of comfort during a pretty gnarly time,” Gunn told the Ambient Country podcast. They accumulated enough tracks this way to make up a record, Let the Moon Be a Planet, which came out in March. We’re also playing Bing & Ruth’s piano-led 2017 record, No Home of the Mind.
