Good morning.
It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Basic Channel, a German electronic duo founded in Berlin in 1993. We previously featured them back in 2021. Shortly following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus formed Basic Channel, making Detroit techno-inspired dance music and ushering in Berlin’s club scene.1 We’re playing three albums of theirs from the early/mid 1990s: Quadrant Dub, a pair of patient, low-slung techno tracks; Phylyps Trak, a triptych at a higher BPM; and Radiance, which is more abstract in its sound.
