Good morning.
Today we’re listening to AJA, an ambient project from French musician Clémence Quélennec. In 2010 she joined the band La Femme as lead singer, and after a successful run and multiple albums left the band in 2019. She started making ambient music on her own, eventually putting out a pair of albums called Ajasphère. We’re playing both of those records: Vol.I (2021) and Vol.II (2024). The first volume is mostly longform synth loops with field recordings. For the second volume, as she explained on a Reddit AMA, she layered acoustic instruments – “organetto, ocarina, clarinette, trumpet, piano” – over keyboard compositions.
